Inspired by my return to the glory that is Tabac today. I have 3/4 tub I have used in a long while, just due to using others recently.
Anyone had a similar experience?

I love the Tabac Original scent.
The tallowless formula is fine. The OG tallow formula is even better. As a community, we need Mäurer & Wirtz to understand that they need to bring it back. There’s plenty of folks that appreciate a vegan base - keep both formulas.
I’ve heard stories that M&W’s tallow supplier went out of business, which led to them reformulating. We have plenty of tallow over here; M&W needs a USA collab partner. :)
Tabac is a very nice soap, and I also got back to it after a couple of years not using it.
I take it that you still have the tallow version? Reactions to the vegan reformulation were a bit mixed (though generally good).

Tabac is a classic. You’ve inspired me to use it today.
I have both the tallow and vegan versions, so now I just have to decide which one to use.

How’s the vegan? Honestly, I don’t know which I have. It’s my second cake of it, but this one has been around for a while, so it could go either way. It doesn’t seem any different than my first Tabac, so I’m inclined to say it’s still tallow. Potentially a heretical opinion, but as long as it makes some slick lather, I really don’t care about the base. Caties Bubbles has a great vegan base.

Catie’s Bubbles is incredible, especially the Premium base.
If you want to try and tell if yours is tallow or vegan, you can tell by the color. Vegan is pretty light colored while the tallow version has a yellowish tint to it. Still, without looking at them side by side it might be hard to know.
I haven’t done a side by side comparing the tallow and vegan, but they do lather differently. I mostly hear people saying they prefer the tallow version, but it’s hard to say if it’s really better or not. People like what they know, and change is hard. The vegan takes a little more effort to load enough into the brush, so that could lead to an objectively worse lather.
Given the choice I’d pick tallow, but given that tallow isn’t available anymore, I’m ok with picking vegan!
