Maybe if Samsung kept the micro sd card slot and headphone jack they would have more sales

Instead all they do is copy iPhone

Its one of like 3 brands you can buy at phone stores in the US.
The other is Samsung and the last one is usually Motorola’s old people or discount phones.

No shit when it’s treated like the default option for most people.

With the dumpster fire that is ios 26, perhaps it won’t happen.

That’s a good thing. It’s not because Apple has massively increased. It’s because more Android manufacturers are competing in the market. I never wanted Samsung to be the dominant brand in the Android market. They’re just as anti-consumer as Apple. The only reason they allow as much software freedom as they do is because it’s forced upon them by the Android OS. If they had it their way, they’d force users to to the Samsung app store and their browser. Both of which are horrible. Just look at their smart watch, home appliances, or TV segments. They’re all locked down. I last owned a Galaxy S20 FE (I think) and the bloat on it is just as bad if not worse than iPhone. And it only allows you to disable the apps rather than uninstalling.

I’ve been using a 2023 Motorola edge+ for at least 2 years and the experience is pretty close to stock Android. It charges at 68W and the battery lasts all day. I love the Moto gestures like the chop-chop flashlight and twist to open the camera. My biggest gripe is hardware. The curved screen makes it hard to find screen protectors and cases on top of being more fragile. But otherwise I have a phone that runs as well as some Samsung flagships for half the price. I think I paid $700. Competition in the Android market can only be a good thing for consumers.

Motorola is not flawless. There is a lot of bloatware and adware from the start. For example, there is a service that installs shitty apps and games every day without consent. Also, after Android 15 upgrade, we got "Live lock screen” that re-enables itself if you disable it. And it is designed to serve you ads on the lock screen.

I am playing with an old iPhone 13 to see is it possible to switch once Google locks Android up and I see no bloatware you are mentioning. If there is something I don’t need or like I can uninstall it. For some shit on Motorola I had to use adb. And that phone is not that cheaper than iPhone.

Nowhere did I say Moto was flawless. I insinuated that Moto was much better than Samsung if that’s what you’re arguing? I have no clue what you’re taking about as far as the service that automatically installs games every day. And I just searched everything in my settings and don’t see anything about a “Live lock screen” . I don’t remember seeing anyone else discussing it either. Regardless, the content of my comment was based solely on first hand experience.

My experience with iPhone is horrible hardware support, locked down software/hardware integration, forced ads on browser…etc. If I’m spending $800 I should be able to expect better than USB 2.0 speeds on the iPhone 15. Why should I need to be the 15 Pro to get USB 3.0? As far as bloat is concerned, they’re all pretty bad. I just wanted to highlight how bad Samsung is. Apple still has: Podcasts, iTunes, Stocks, Apple Maps, Books, Home, Safari, Wallet, Facetime, etc. I left all of my Apple gripes out because it’s irrelevant to the conversation at hand.
