Have farmers in my family, vets are for animals that make money, once the vet cost is higher then the ROI on the animal… it’s over.
Ain’t no farmer paying a vet to take care of a barn cat.
It’s all a matter of perspective, if you are emotionally invested in the outcome, business will take advantage yo make profit. Vets are a business.
The answer is yes. But, vets also go to school for many extra years often racking up student loans to be vets. They then make very little money and I don’t blame them for trying to make some extra money on medication etc. It’s an overcrowded job market because people like animals and want to become vets. There isn’t enough money in it.
The vet wanted to amputate my sisters cats leg when it came home with a limp. She was hell no and a month or so later it was completely healed so yeah I do think some vets might be more in it for the money.
My parents cat takes medication, they were able to get it half the cost that the vet was charging from an online med supply website. $300 down to $150 for 2.5 months of pills.
