Pleroma defaults to a few thousand characters, and I've extended FBXL Social to 60,000 characters per post for times when I'm posting an essay from my upcoming book.
The threaded view of lotide is ideal from my viewpoint.
Yeah! I actually think the Fediverse write large ain't bad, I just think that the chronological timeline means that low-quality and usually low-effort posts reign supreme, in both exposure and proportion of posts (because s--tposts and hellthreads do well, users are incentivized to make more of them).
