Like a lot of the NYT, there isn’t another source. I recommend restarting your browser and/or device and making sure Javascript is enabled

I mean, there was a time when people hadn’t heard him or seen him do much of anything so they believed him when he said he wanted to do various good things.

There are a ton of people who believed Musk’s words, thinking he wasn’t a fascist, for whom words are a means of manipulation, rather than a means of conveying information
