I’m not sure if this is what you’re asking but I met a Chinese tourist about 20 years ago. He was also traveling on his own. He seemed like a relatively nice guy, even when drunk. Not like “wow this guy is such a nice person” bu you know. Someone you could grab a beer with. His table manners were umm… different, but I attribute that to cultural differences. Oh and he liked smashing his fist on the table for emphasis and dramatic effect when talking about something that was important to him. He was obsessed with respect. Who respected him, who didn’t respect him, etc. He also had a deep and great love for his country, something he seemed to derive meaning and sense of purpose from.

As a Chinese American, I think I behave just fine. Not sure why your question is phrased this way, sounds a bit bigoted. 🤔

I was born in Guangzhou, PRC. I immigrated to the US when I was a kid. I don’t see many of my (ethnically Chinese) relatives behaving “improperly” in the US. Most of my interactions in NYC Chinatown and Ohilly Chinatown was fine. Not sure what you mean by “improper” behavior. Any examples of such “improper” behavior?

I don’t know if I have an answer on Chinese tourists beyond I think most East Asian tour groups following the person with the flag is kind of funny.
That said, China and Chinese people are wonderful. Many of the cultural standards are just different but even more may be more civilized than the west. For example, putting family before all else, a love for cleanliness, home and person hygiene, shared meals, always willing to pay for your friends, taking care of those who take care of you (guanxi), etc.

You know, I don’t have any particularly vivid memories of Chinese tourists behaving any particular way. If I’ve come across any, they were benign enough to not leave an impression.

The vast majority of them are just fine, like with most tourists. The problem is there’s just massively large number of them in many tourist destinations compared to other countries (at least where I live), which means you more frequently see one acting poorly too.
The Americans are somewhat the same, we also get a lot of them.
That being said, even though most of the issues are because of sheer numbers it doesn’t mean there aren’t a few key cultural differences which can play a role in western locations being offended by Chinese behaviour.
The big one with China is that culturally there’s no expectation that you treat a stranger respectfully, the person you’re dealing with needs to earn your respect rather than having it by default. This comes across as quite rude to many other countries when you only have a single interaction with this person.
This isn’t a Chinese only issue though, Americans can also be quite rude depending on where they’re from and how they were raised, a good chunk of them are entitled assholes who think the world revolves around them when they visit.

Not true. My parents, while strict and sometimes abusive to me, still taught me to be polite in public.

That’s not what I was taught or experienced firsthand while I was there.

Your title and question don’t appear to make sense.
Do you mean “improperly” ?
BlameThePeacock@lemmy.ca 20 hours ago
It makes perfect sense, he’s asking for positive examples.

The title of your post is:
Have anyone seen any Chinese tourists behaving properly before?
This implies that nobody has seen any Chinese tourists behaving properly, in other words, they’re all misbehaving.
Your body text says that you know people from the mainland, which I presume means China, and that this idea of badly behaving tourists makes you sad.
The two are in disagreement with each other.
I think you meant to ask:
“Has anyone seen any Chinese tourists behaving improperly before?”

The worst tourists are latinamericans, speaking as one.

I’ve seen a fair amount of Chinese tourists and I don’t recall seeing them act in a way that struck me as particularly proper or improper. They’re mostly just walking around and looking at stuff. I also haven’t heard of specific complaints about their behavior. Some people complain about tourism in general, how some places get too crowded and prices increase, but it’s less about the behavior of tourists. Or when it is, it’s not the Chinese who are singled out for it.
