There are several factors behind why Labor hasn't gone on a celebratory tour to boast about having "pulled off" something that's never been achieved in Australia.
Yo instead of wasting time patting each other on the ass about “falling inflation” remember in your heart of hearts that it still means things are getting shittier, just not as quickly as yesterday.
Let’s schedule the orgy for when we can start congratulating ourselves on deflation
I don’t think the ALP or RBA have done a bad job at all and I think the ALP deserve another term. But it is sensible not to make a big deal about the economy or they risk looking arrogant and out of touch.
While inflation may have slowed to a stop, many incomes are a long way from catching up. Cost of living pressures are still a huge deal for many people. There are certainly some people who have bounced back well and are taking their holidays and spending but they probably aren’t the ones who are going to punish the ALP in the burbs.
Labor seem to be taking their “no attack surface” and pushing into media silence, which is…not a smart move.

Albo was on QandA last week and I think he mentioned it in passing once.
I was wondering the same thing as the headline, and the thought occurred to me - and it’s mentioned in the article - that though inflation is down, it doesn’t really make anything more affordable as wages haven’t gone anywhere.
So, the triumph of lower inflation just means that everything is less unaffordable. It continues to be a real struggle for a lot of people to make ends meet.

Yes, but the expectation that prices go down when inflation is controlled is not correct. Inflation under control is just rises that are small. We also don’t want inflation, or the economy is pretty screwed.
