Atlas Shaves Theme for the day:
Barrister & Mann - Night Music
Musk, Vanilla, Bergamot, Iris, Strawberry
I don’t have Night Music, so this is again a day with just the four artisan points. The Reserve base was fantastic, and I enjoyed using it today. I wonder if anyone is tracking the points and number of participants. I’m forbidden as per rule 2, but I’m still curious.
I’m looking forward to seeing a Barrister and Mann parade today, and wish you all a good one.

Ha, I like your interpretation of Rule #2 and I’d further suggest (without an official rule-breaking call-out so don’t even try) that you shouldn’t be participating!
you shouldn’t be participating!
Hey! Watch your rule 1!
Feb 4, 2025 - Atlas Shaves II - Day 4
I am finally fully on theme with today’s soap choice, B+M’s Night Music.
Daily Total: 7 (6 for on theme soap, +1 for crossposting bonus) Running Total: 24
Sextidi 16 Pluviôse an 233 de la Révolution, jour de Buis
I have had The Watchman for quite some time, but this year it is vibing with me. Good shave with the Puma, getting to know better the Bingcha brush.
Have a good evening!
I just got The Watchman, but haven’t shaved with it yet because of AS2. It’s a really nice scent, I look forward to using it.

I’m not technically playing Atlas Shaves, but hell—when you have a Night Music trifecta sometimes you need to flex the Night Music trifecta.
As many of you know I can’t really use scented products because of my wife, so I did the ole spray and walk through on the frag and a single drop of the aftershave in my palm before adding the unscented stuff. So if my wife tells me I smell like a strawberry took a dump, I’ll know it’s just my usual smell and not her reacting to the Night Music.
Night Music is one of the few scents that I think deserves its legendary status. I understand why it is never coming back, but damn I would love if it did. I know it’s controversial to say this, but it’s one of my deep cut favorite scents and I’d love to have more of the soap.

I’m very impressed with this Old Type razor. Three passes, BBS everywhere except for right under my jawline (which is usually the hardest spot for me to get), zero irritation. Definitely glad I picked this thing up.
Lavanille is always a treat to shave with as well.
+4 points for shaving with the artisan who made the daily theme soap
+1 point for cross-posting
+1 point for engaging yesterday
Total points (12 previous + 6): 18

Nice shave! Finally home for a little while after tons of traveling and working over the past 3 weeks. I’ve only had 5 days at home in the past 22 days.
I don’t have Night Music, but I have Lyssa. The scent notes in Lyssa are:
lavender, oakmoss, coumarin, bergamot, geranium, jasmine, ylang ylang, benzoin, labdanum, patchouli, heliotrope, musk, vanilla
Bold notes match those present in Night Music (Musk, Vanilla, Bergamot, Iris, Strawberry), and cover 3/5, or 60% of the notes in Night Music.
Therefore, I get points for:

Brush: Chisel & Hound Classic 26mm V23 Fanchurian
Razor: Puma 89 11/16 Full Hollow
Lather: Subtle Art Soap Co. - Citrus Bay Rum - Soap
Aftershave: Subtle Art Soap Co. - Citrus Bay Rum - Aftershave
Talc: Yardley Gold
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
This was my first use of a Subtle Art soap. The soap base has 3 butters and kaolin clay so it is smooth and creamy. Takes water very well.
I’m a sucker for Bay Rum scents. This one has a punch to it that reminds me of Captain’s Choice Bay Rum. This one seems to be a little more refined, but I haven’t compared them side by side yet.
This Puma has a Black Shadow edge on it. I recently watched a YT video of someone using the Green Shadow stone; which is finer and intended for use after the Black Shadow. I wanted to evaluate the edge to determine if I would even want a more refined edge. My conclusion after a very comfortable, BBS shave was that I don’t feel extra refinement is necessary.

As I understand, the Green Shadow is harder and better for Nagura stone slurries. The Black Shadow is to soft for JNAT-like use.

Yes. I think that is a great assessment. I have done nagura slurries on a Black Arkansas with great result, and I think the Green Shadow might be close in hardness to the Black Ark.
