The skit came in a game break during the second quarter of Monday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers at Spectrum Center. The boy joined Charlotte’s mascot, Hugo, who was dressed as Santa, on the court. In-game host Ohavia Phillips read a letter to Santa that included a request for a PS5 for Christmas as a Hornets cheerleader walked up to Hugo and gave him a gift bag. The mascot then pulled a PS5 out of the bag and gave it to the surprised boy.
However, the Hornets took the PS5 from the fan after the cameras turned off and a staffer replaced it with a jersey.
The Hornets said they returned the PS5 to the fan and will give him a VIP experience for a future game.

NBA owners are cheap as fuck. They pretend to gift a PS5 to a fan so that it looks like they’re doing it in the arena and on TV and then they take it back later once the cameras are turned off. gtfo

Yeah how are you going to try and fake this just to lake it seem like the org is generous. If all you’re going to give is a jersey just do it around that rather then do this fake out on the kid.

i really doubt the owner had any idea about any of this.

We won’t know for sure, but your statement can be used for owners of all kinds to evade responsibility for all kinds of shady stuff. They control decision-making and the budget though, so I’m content to include them as a responsible party here
