How come we cannot add another lemmy to be a mod in a community that I created? Or that others have created to invite me in to be one of their mods?

It’s just the way Lemmy is structed. If you want somebody to be a mod, you need to do it through a post/comment they’ve made in your community. Ask them to post/comment something and you can add them.

If your instance has the Photon UI as an option, It’s possible to add and remove mods without an existing post in the community through the team menu.

You can also do it through p.lemmy.world as well.

It’s one of a couple design changes I completely rejected lemmy-ui’s version of. Why on earth is it on a commonly used menu? I feel like it makes so much more sense to put it on the community settings page.

Because I created a community of ELI5 before I even knew they existed and thought it would be less confusion for people trying to join a community.

Have they commented or posted on the community? I have only ever been able to appoint modship to users who have commented somewhere on the sub.
