Although it’s not in the fediverse I quite like reading tildes.net. It’s quite slow paced but the quality of conversation is quite high in my opinion.

Lemmy is a software which runs on many websites see for a overview:

They are connected and show each others content.
There is other software which can do it too like PieFed and mbin.
