Google is working on a competitor to OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT. The ‘experimental conversational AI service’ is called Bard and is only being tested by a limited group.

Google home seems quaint compared to ChatGPT. In some ways, ChatGPT feels to me like having a discussion with the computer from Star Trek: The Next Generation, having a conversation with Google Home is like having a discussion with a failing voice recognition program.
If Google doesn't get its game up several levels and fast, it won't exist in 5 years.

LaMDA seems impressive and they've had it for years, but the only thing they've been using it for is reading doctors' signatures for prescriptions, translating to languages people don't understand yet, and isolating voices from people talking over each other using the cocktail effect.
Not sure why Google hasn't done anything public-facing with LaMDA yet, but it looks like ChatGPT has pushed them to that point.
