tbf, for a lot of people the answer is no, but for a lot of people the answer would be yes.
If (and that's if -- it's not necessarily so easy) twitter could get some percentage of their countless users to pay for the service instead of getting it for free, then those users become thousands, perhaps millions of times more valuable than a regular user. If you can get enough users to sign up to pay, then suddenly this crappy little site might become huge.
