This is going to be my last statement on it for a while.

Before I temp banned that dude I woke up to a bunch of post like this.

With a bunch of people I've never met from the internet calling me a faggot.

Wolfballs offers freespeech. Everyone defines freespeech differently. We protect what we present to unlogged in users like every single other freespeech platform. I don't use the word freespeech because no one can agree on what it actually means.

I hope this clears up some misconceptions about wolfballs.

Interesting ideas. I personally am for being attacked as an admin. Though it has never happened to me personally. It's hard when our emotions get involved in administration and things feel personal (though fairly they are because they are intentionally making them personal). I suppose I've always believed in de-personalizing admin work. One of the reasons why I ended up using alt-tech almost exclusively came long ago when I was shadow banned on Reddit for talking about Ellen Pao's lawsuit on /r/technology. The personal and legal details of many other tech CEOs were discussed openly in the forum all the time and a good chunk of articles were exactly that. So it seemed wrong that discussing that in regards to a major company would be disallowed. It created a hole in discussion and a gap in people's understanding. It also meant that the CEO of reddit was using their trusted capacity to moderate (which at that time was utilized almost never), not for any benefit to the community but for their own personal interests.

Maybe part of my views also come from applying stoic patterns. Be above their attacks. They are nothing. If the guy wants to be a cancerous piece of shit he can throw his ineffectual tantrums and be ignored for the insignificant piece of shit that he is.

  Good thoughts. It's impossible to get everything perfect every time. The technology and site policies should be in the right direction atleast. We use open source federated software that makes shenanigans like shadow banning difficult.

  Thank you. I have some bit coin and etherium links in the heart at the top those go straight to my coin base account. I really don't need it yet though. It's basically a cell phone bill. I will be doing some advertising campaigns though and if enough users come and we get attacked at the same time I may ask everyone for a few dollars to scale up while that goes on. I can spin up extra containers on demand and only pay for what I use if i really had to.

Free speech is always an ideal. In practice, even in the US, you can be unjustly brought to court on trumped up charges by malicious actors like corrupt cops, judges, etc

Wolfballs is @masterofballs@wolfballs.com inviting people into his home. He has been very generous in allowing people to say what they want. If certain people want to just abuse this and trash his home... he has every right to kick people out.

He has even offered others help in setting up their own Fediverse instances to run and say whatever they feel like. I really feel this is extremely generous and fair.

The K-slur is actually a slur on ceykle, Yiddish for circle. That was due to illiterate Jewish immigrants needing to sign immigrant documents. They refused to draw an X since that is a type of cross. Jesus was crucified on a cross and they wanted no part of that. So they drew circles instead as their signatures.

Even the name "Ku Klux Klan" has a similar etymology. The "Ku Klux" part just means a circle. And "Klan" just means tribe or family. So that name could translate to "Family Circle." That sounds nowhere as offensive as how folks make the KKK sound.

Ah I see. It seems like you define "free speech platforms" as those that allow you to say whatever you want. I define them as platforms that both allow you to see what you want, and make no effort to hide, derank, or otherwise limit the visibility of speech based on its content. That sort of censorship, I think, is a big problem at other sites like Twitter and YouTube, for example.

Removing the undesirables is by no means the only method of censorship; de-ranking their content has a similar effect.

I do appreciate your more nuanced and detailed explanation about what exactly you'll do with offensive content though.

  We are open source that's the main difference. I'm very against shadow banning. Everything needs to be out in the open and multiple instances should compete to keep things flowing in good faith.
