IIRC it doesn’t do anything prevent tooth decay, it just doesn’t cause it, unlike sugar and many other sugar substitutes.

It stimulates the salivary glands, and saliva does prevent tooth decay.

A quick google search, xylitol and tooth decay, should convince you otherwise. Plenty of scientific papers to dive in
