    Normalization refers to social processes through which ideas and actions come to be seen as ‘normal’ and become taken-for-granted or ‘natural’ in everyday life.
    
    Your dismissive response to someone asking for better behavior normalizes both the original sexist behavior and your own act of dismissal. What you said isn’t half as important as the context in which you said it.
