Terry is genetically Bruce’s son because the government put DNA altering tech (NANOMACHINES, SON) into a flu shot they gave to Terry’s dad so that his sperm would genetically be Bruce Wayne’s. Then the government was going to murder Terry’s parents so he would become Batman.

Thanks. I watched the show but I didn’t get to follow the story well because back in my day we couldn’t just stream a show we had to watch a certain TV channel at a certain time and oh fuck I’m old.
The show is easily watchable in bits and pieces. As long as you understand the basic premise (Bruce Wayne got old and retired as Batman, a teen discovered his secret and is now the new Batman in a cyberpunk future, crime fighting under the guidance of Bruce) then it is as episodic as any of the other DC cartoons of the time.
