I hope they go ok⊠pumpkins are apparently prone to mildew and attract pests. And Iâm worried the pots are too small.
I was going to get Small Sugar pumpkins but checked the size of the fruit and itâs lucky that I did. Those are smaller than standard but 18cm/2kg would be a bit heavy for vertical growing.
I picked the Jack Be Little variety that seemed like theyâd grow to the size of my fist and will support them if I have to. I considered the tiniest ones, Baby Boo, but while edible their description didnât say they were good eating.

I grew the baby boo pumpkins last year. They were ok to eat, but a bit incipid. They made a decent individual stuffed pumpkin as long as you were relying on the filling for flavour and the pumpkin was mostly presentation.

There definitely would not have been much to puree, there was not much flesh on them.
