People living in London are getting support to update their vehicles. The issue is people in the boroughs surrounding London who’s councils are trying to fight it rather than solve the issue by helping the residents they’re responsible for.

There’s me thinking that the parts of the expansion to the North and South circulars were insisted upon by the Tory government as part of a deal supporting TFL in the COVID-era, and that all Labour’S Khan did was to tack on expansion to the East and West.

I don’t understand it isn’t it just an extension of the congestion charge? I’m kind of confused why they’re upset about this but not the congestion charge.

Because the congestion charge came in when politics was relatively stable in this country and social media and dodgy news channels like Gbeebies and Talk TV hadn’t turned everything into an “us Vs them, they’re out to get you and your way of life” outrage. Back then you could agree that something may be for the best even though it may mean you have to adapt a bit.

I heard Khan on LBC the other day. The big problem is that the Tories brought in an order (I forget the name) that means all cities have a version of ULEZ.
Other cities have bought in their ULEZs but no one has kicked up a big fuss about it, only about London. Also, the Tories have been happily giving financial support to the other cities to help setup ULEZ but won’t give anything to London.

I do think it’s funny that despite all their machinations they only barely won that seat. It rather goes to show how much of a lame duck they are now.
