Iâve heard it in reference to men, but as a collective. âOur Socceroosâ, âOur boysâ etc. I canât think of any examples where it was used in reference to a single male athlete.

I canât say Iâve heard it much at the Olympics but Iâve definitely heard it in reference to the footy.
I do understand where youâre coming from I just donât think itâs a negative.
