I think It was a bandwagon thing. It got cool to hate on them and everyone just went with it.

It’s maybe also something about Nickelback fans. As a Nickelback fan, I can’t really blame anyone for whom Nickelback is not their cup of tea.
We’re just such a gosh darned reasonable fandom. I’m sorry when I think about how members of Nickelback have suffered for my politeness and good taste, though.
