I’m fine with postponing for a week, and I would certainly prefer to do the shave together as planned. But that means that we should probably plan longer ahead for next time – maybe launch the prep for September soon?

Heads-up, the Swiss Post somehow shit the bed with the samples. Usually it takes one week for a letter from here to the US and I’ve sent the samples to @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social, @walden@sub.wetshaving.social, and @whosgotthepudding@sub.wetshaving.social on July 3rd, but the stayed in Zürich for a week and only reached US customs yesterday. I’m sorry about that.
I’m not sure whether they’ll make it to you in time. If not, I propose that we wait for everyone to have their sample and postpone the inaugural BVWSC. Thoughts?
I’ll send you your individual tracking info in PM.

Yep, that’s probably smart

A postponement due to the post makes sense. Is that where the word postpone comes from I wonder?

Lol, calling subject matter expert @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social to get nerdsniped on the different etymologies of post as in postal service and post as in postpone.
PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social 5 months ago
Post as in postal service seems to come from the Latin “positus”, meaning “placed” or “stationed”. Dixit Perplexity:
This refers to the system of relay stations or “posts” set up along routes to deliver messages and mail. In ancient times, postal systems relied on a series of stations where horses and riders could be changed to speed up long-distance communication. These stations were called “posts”.
The term “post” originally referred to the system and infrastructure for delivering mail, rather than the mail itself. It came to mean both the system and the items delivered over time.
Post as in postpone is a Latin preposition meaning ‘after’ or ‘later’.

I have no issues with waiting. The US Customs and USPS can be unpredictable as well. Perhaps for future shaves we can have distribution services on both sides of the Atlantic.
djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 5 months ago
That requires at least one owner of the chosen soap on either side, which won’t always be the case if ever
DaveWave94@sub.wetshaving.social 5 months ago
Honestly that’s kinda what my concerns were with DHL/german postal services, unfortunate that it also happened with Swiss Post now. Personally I agree that your proposal makes the most sense - let us wait until everyone has their samples and we can do the Wetshaving Social Club all together. Perhaps last Wednesday of every month isn’t such a bad idea either?
djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 5 months ago
Yeah, let’s see how long this takes
sahenders@sub.wetshaving.social 5 months ago
Hopefully, they will move quickly, but I’ve no issues with waiting for everyone to get the soap.
