Comment on Live coverage of the General Election debate
realcaseyrollins@noauthority.social 5 months ago@realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city I was wondering where #RishiSunak went, turns out he went fishing. This isn't a good look for him IMHO, I don't think #PennyMordaunt is doing a good job in the debate so far

What this tells me is that the major parties aren’t taking this one seriously. This one is more about the minor parties that no one votes for in any numbers. It likely won’t the major parties much.

@midway @realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city What does #Labour support? Do they want to raise taxes and rejoin the #EU?

The original post suggested it was a mistake for Sunak not to attend that debate in person. My point is that Labour wasn’t there at all…and for good reason.
This is a debate for the minor parties in the UK. They are well represented here. There is little good that can happen for the major parties to attend or to send the PM that just brings more attention to the minor parties. If someone is already supporting a minor party the chance of them switching to a major one is pretty low…they left for a reason. But the chance of a major party supporter liking what they hear and switching to a minor isn’t super high but much higher than the other way around. So it’s not in the interest of the major parties to increase the audience size of this debate by attending or by sending someone like the PM. It is entirely in the interest of the minor parties to debate the PM or likely future PM from Labour.
