- Comment on Live coverage of the General Election debate 5 months ago:I haven’t gone over the Labour manifesto (yes, they call their platforms manifestos over there) to know but that’s not my point
The original post suggested it was a mistake for Sunak not to attend that debate in person. My point is that Labour wasn’t there at all…and for good reason.
This is a debate for the minor parties in the UK. They are well represented here. There is little good that can happen for the major parties to attend or to send the PM that just brings more attention to the minor parties. If someone is already supporting a minor party the chance of them switching to a major one is pretty low…they left for a reason. But the chance of a major party supporter liking what they hear and switching to a minor isn’t super high but much higher than the other way around. So it’s not in the interest of the major parties to increase the audience size of this debate by attending or by sending someone like the PM. It is entirely in the interest of the minor parties to debate the PM or likely future PM from Labour. - Comment on Live coverage of the General Election debate 5 months ago:Notice who isn’t there at all….Labour, the likely winner.
What this tells me is that the major parties aren’t taking this one seriously. This one is more about the minor parties that no one votes for in any numbers. It likely won’t the major parties much. - Comment on CBS host shocked by poll showing 62% of registered voters support deporting all illegal immigrants 5 months ago:By ridding or at least drastically reducing the illegals who aren’t committing other crimes, you free up resources to go after the ones that are. I’m far less concerned about their doors being kicked down.
- Comment on CBS host shocked by poll showing 62% of registered voters support deporting all illegal immigrants 5 months ago:The only place ICE will need to invade is job sites employing illegals. Take away their ability to obtain money and they won’t want to be here anymore.
- Comment on CBS host shocked by poll showing 62% of registered voters support deporting all illegal immigrants 5 months ago:Of course. This is a serious adult approach to it. Not what we’re doing now.
Sadly there will be an amnesty at some point. I can see the Dems cutting a desk with Trump for a few billion dollars in wall funding in exchange for a ”one time” mass amnesty. I don’t trust that his ego wouldn’t take that deal. - Comment on CBS host shocked by poll showing 62% of registered voters support deporting all illegal immigrants 5 months ago:It’s even simpler than that. Zero government assistance and actually crack down on employers who hire them. I mean seriously, $500K per illegal hire, then actually prosecute them for doing it. Self deportation is a thing. And fix citizenship rules to end citizenship based on location. At least one parent must be a citizen or at least a permanent resident. No anchor babies.
Once you remove the main incentives to come here for strictly economic reasons, you can focus on folks like cartels and dangerous people because you won’t be overwhelmed by the rest.
The problem is thar doing these things steps on too many political toes on both sides. - Comment on BREAKING: CEO Bob Iger Considering Selling Streaming Services and Other Assets, May Even Try to Sell Entire Disney Company 1 year ago:In the ultimate twist of irony, George Lucas buys Disney for $1B less than he received for selling them LucasFilms. :)
- Comment on How predictable is the stock market? 1 year ago:It’s not reliably predictable. If it were, it would collapse. Markets need some uncertainty in order to generate different opinions. That creates liquidity which is needed for a good market. You need longs and shorts.

The show was Counterpart. - Comment on What Shows Didn't Deserve To Get Cancelled? 1 year ago:Counterpoint. The fact that no one picked that one up is a tragedy.
