I don’t know about the US, but winters in Europe are getting longer and colder. This winter was bloody brutal.

I don’t see how middle-aged+ conservatives can be in denial. I’ve seen some shit in my time. In just 18-years of living in Florida, the weather has changed dramatically.
It almost never freezes in the winter and the summers are hotter, and especially drier. Wife and I have done a lot of landscaping and gardening this year. All I can think is what a bitch it’s going to be when it doesn’t rain for 2 MONTHS.

I don’t think that applies to Europe in general. Here in Southern Germany, we had a pretty brutal coldsnap back in November, but that was followed up by summer weather in December and then mild winter in January, February.
One thing, that was pretty universal across the globe for the past months, is more precipitation, because the oceans are so hot right now and therefore more water evaporates.
So, if you’re in a place where clouds often rain off, that could have definitely amplified the cold.Aux@lemmy.world 6 months ago
Well, winter weather in the UK only ended in early May. It was still snowing in Latvia and Moscow in early may. I had to go to Latvia in January, it was unusually cold there. As well as being unusually cold in UK.

It is because it is part of the culture wars, in which anything advocated by a Democrat regardless of how much it’s simply common sense, how objective, how beneficial, or even how conservative something is - even if it had been previously proposed by a Republican - it must be opposed on principle because it came from a Democrat.
They’re not governing. They have no intention of doing so. We’re down to knee-jerk opposition for the sake of it, using whatever excuses come to hand.

Because it’s more convenient for them to ignore it, and they’re generally close-minded.
