This sounds stupider than I can process.

They want more stop and search powers. Are they saying they think this guy had that big ass knife on him? If he’s basically homeless, he’s going to have everything he owns with him. I’ve heard talk of a storage rental. Do they want to be able to search any storage for any reason?

Or are they saying they should have done something about the guy, and didn’t?

Legislation, known as Jack’s Law, allows Queensland police to use hand-held metal detectors to search people in all safe night precincts, at public transport stations and on public transport without a warrant.

Clearly a moronic idea but no doubt there will be some idiots in the community who support it, just like proactive policing in NSW or mandatory data retention online.
