wintermute_oregon@lemm.ee 5 months agoUmm. That’s not his medical school works. We have a limited number of slots. It’s a supply vs demand issue.
It’s not like we are sitting around with billets not being used. Medical schools turn away a large amount of people who apply due to space.
Then you have residency. We have a shortage of spots in the residency programs. So even if you graduate medical school, you may not get selected for residency.
Without residency, your job options are very limited.

You are completely missed by that we are not just talking about doctors. That’s just an example. We also need nurses, teachers, engineers, and all sorts of other jobs requiring advanced degrees. (Part of the reason med school is limited is there aren’t enough people to teach it. The demand is there, the supply can’t keep up).

That isn’t an issue. The issue is medical groups push to limit supply. It’s keep the salaries high.
They all fall under the same thing. Just pay your own school

Bullshit. Doctors aren’t going to let people die from lack of care just to make more money. They are one of the few jobs where ethics are essential.
But you don’t really care about any real discussion do you? You just don’t like the idea that someone else might get something for free that you didn’t. It’s that kind of attitude that holds civilization back.
The government pays for all kinds of things you don’t use with your taxes. You pay for roads you don’t drive on. You pay for fires to be put out at other people’s homes. You pay for the education of children that aren’t yours. Fucking get over it.

No I don’t like paying more taxes for something that doesn’t add value. If your degree can’t pay you enough to pay your loans, maybe you don’t have a good degree.
Personal responsibility is important. College isn’t necessary. Many good jobs don’t require a degree.
