Physics is true whether or not we believe in or understand it. It’s not Santa Claus.
But there’s no such thing as hobbits.

Physics is a fact. Belief in it is irrelevent.
Hobbit is a name for a fictional creature, there is nothing to prevent reuse of the name for some real creature of the next 1000 years.
