How is PowerPC and x86 similar
Comment on Fan-made bloodborne patch allows the game to run at 60FPS on PS5
simple@lemm.ee 1 year agoIt’s not that Sony doesn’t want to. Backwards compatibility between Xbox 360 and modern consoles is possible because the architecture between them is similar, whereas the PS3 is too different to PS4/5.
I think the hate for Xbox is mostly because they lack good first party titles. Most of them bombed. Remember Halo Infinite and Redfall?

Powerpc and x86 are a lot more similar than x86 and cell. One is a feasible goal, the other no one would expect as a goal.

On one hand, I can kind of agree and see Sony having the courtesy of having PS3 available to stream if you have access to the classics catalogue. But it sucks it’s a service you must pay for, and that Metal Gear Solid 4 isn’t on there. (Though that last bit may be Konami’s fault, not Sony’s).

Yes the architecture is different but that’s not the point I’m trying to make. Microsoft are actively pursuing backwards compatibility and trying to make it better, FPS Boost and enhanced resolution are both such prominent features that they’re advertised on the Xbox store for each game that has them.
It’s something Microsoft is pushing for, FPS Boost was developed by the Backwards Compatibility Team, they then work with developers to implement it with past games. PS5 has Game Boost but aside from it just being there Sony isn’t offering the same assistance for developers to improve older titles, if this was an Xbox game you bet Microsoft would be helping to implement FPS Boost and get it to 60fps.

Microsoft killed the team that did that stuff back in 2021 fwiw. It’s over now
