You think the only major film about Oppenheimer is not going to be played endlessly in history classes?

But if your game runs like shit on the top of the line consoles too, then maybe the problem is the developer.

- Comment on Prodeus: The Elder Veil - Reveal Trailer (DLC) 1 year ago:
You make a great point there, Prodeus is funny in that respect because it’s heavily, heavily inspired by Brutal Doom (like deliberately going for the pixelated sprites + HD level geometry dichotomy) but they didn’t really take any of the lessons from what that guy did to make the Doom enemies smarter and more fun to fight.
- Comment on Prodeus: The Elder Veil - Reveal Trailer (DLC) 1 year ago:
I was disappointed by Prodeus. They’ve got a good foundation and the aesthetic is genre leading, there but the enemies all just stand in one place and their guns, despite having great sound design and variety, still feel a bit unexciting to use.
I’d be keen to see them keep working on those areas but I think they’re more interested in making it a platform for modding, which is cool but kind of pointless if the game itself isn’t tight.

Probably in 10 years when 4k per eye displays cost $2.50 and Wifi 9 can transmit DisplayPort 3 with low latency.

As long as it’s wireless it doesn’t need to be standalone. How many VR users take their HMD outside their home?

Mozilla’s primary revenue is from Google, because Google doesn’t want Chrome to be broken up by the FTC. Same reason Microsoft kept Apple afloat in the dark times before Jobs returned.

It’s dumbed down but sailing into the wind is possible IRL. By keeping your sail at an angle the wind pushes you sideways, but your keel is kept in place by the water, so your ship moves forward.

Evolution frequently discards baggage.
Bethesda just keep piling shit on top without doing any of the necessary groundwork to make it run well.
- Comment on Sucking carbon dioxide out of the sky is moving from science fiction to reality 1 year ago:
This is a nice sentiment that I agree with as a sentiment, but it’s not realistic.
If it takes the equivalent of 1ton of carbon emissions to capture 1ton of carbon emissions, you are literally going nowhere compared to just replacing fossil fuels.
So this technology needs to be extremely efficient, otherwise the amount of extra energy generation we need becomes astronomical. So far it does not look anywhere close to being sufficiently efficient.

There’s no way this will ever be economical at the scale we need to fix what we’ve done.
