Comment on Biden Administration Restores Wildlife Protections Weakened Under Trump | The rules give federal officials more leeway to protect species in a changing climate. Industry groups are expected to sue.
Prior Republican administrations weren’t anywhere near this bad when it came to tearing down the administrative state.
Which means Biden should have done more than just undo some of the shit trump tore down…
Like, that’s the whole point, republicans break more shit, and Dems have been fixing less.
The result is things keep getting worse.
A lot is getting better; we’re seeing a continued coal phase-out for example.
It’s not everything we need yet, but a long ways from getting worse right now.

That goes up to 2023 and while there was a dip in 2020, that was probably from COVID and it’s been steadily increasing since…
The US still exports a whole lot of coal, so what your’e seeing is coal-for-export, rather than coal-burned.
Use was kept from going back up, while new regulations are going to force another drop.
I think it’s more that the republicans have been breaking a lot more shit and breaking it more thoroughly than ever before so it takes more work and effort to fix things. It’s always easier to break something than to fix it.
