Comment on I have lost faith in almost *EVERY* vaccine
sj_zero@lotide.fbxl.net 2 years agoI can't say I disagree with any of that, particularly the disgusting politicization of science. I work in a field where I need to make hypotheses, and they need to be basically right, and if they aren't right then I'm going to waste a bunch of money and time doing something useless, but if I am right then things are going to get better really fast.
I can't argue my way out of being wrong. At the end of the day the real world decides the facts, and I can either accept it or pretend that it's not true, but if you get hit by a bus all the pleasant thoughts in the world aren't going to stop it.

Yes, politicization is bad. What is equally bad is the dogma from established scientists.
The academic career path with tenure and grant processes is so fossilized, that they will ignore and discredit everything that's new and challenges their career.
Case in point the Polio vaccine curing just one of the opportunistic viruses instead of fixing the heavy metal poisoning. Mainstream scientists don't want to challenge or investigate established "science" that could get them labelled as "eccentric" and destroy their careers. Same with the reluctance to touch "Placebo" research for decades.
We need independent scientists like we need independent journalists. Both do the same job of investigating and informing the public. We need them unbiased.

I agree, and there's something else: I read a lot of transactions journals and I subscribed to Nature for about a year, and I think the science/engineering establishment needs to get its head out of its ass and stop using intentionally obtuse language.
They seem to intentionally use code instead of regular English to convince each other about how smart their papers are, but in my opinion it makes them look stupid. When you make it two thirds through an article filled with intense jargon before you realize "Oh, you guys are just using a PID. Why didn't you just say so?"

NATURE..... I have a daily feed to it. It was one of my last trusted sources, alongwith BMJ. Lancet outed itself as a political hackjob since 2020, when it started editing its articles to be anti-Trump, like so many "scientists" out there.
But since last week.... its been filled with diversity articles, vax promotion and other garbage. I will wait another couple of weeks, and if it continues this shit, I am cutting it out of my life.
Lefties have infected ALL media at top levels and corrupted it to the bone. Its disgusting how unreliable sources which used to be Bedrock truth have become.
Nature might soon be joining a long list: BBC, NPR, Lancet, CNN, Telegraph.... all corrupt garbage
