These people seem to be very short-sighted. If they can use the power of the state to force me to say they are a thing, then they'd better hope nobody who dislikes them ever gets in power; The precedent has been set, and there's no logical jump from forcing me to say you are a thing to forcing themselves to say they are not a thing.

In America the state cant force you yo use a pronoun. Work places say they can but I'll never say made up words. Some things are worse than getting fired. I would rather live cleaning pig shit in communist China than be forced to call some dude zher or some made up bullshit.

Unfortunately, a constitution is only as good as the nation's willingness to follow it.
We have a constitution, but instead of the strict scrutiny under the US constitution, courts have interpreted it as something closer to intermediate scrutiny.
