Comment on you can't pretend it's not funny

Okay, curious though, was the word frunk a thing back when the old 1960’s VW Bug cars were a thing?
I dunno, but the word trunk predates the automobile by quite a long time, so why a special word for a front trunk vs a back trunk? Why isn’t there a special word for back trunk like brunk?
If you’re playing an RPG such as Diablo and find a treasure trunk, do you call it a treasure frunk if it’s in the front of a dungeon?
Didn’t think so. Frunk just sounds stupid.

I might be too late for this to see any traction, but I support storage in the front of a vehicle being called a chest, and storage in the back being a trunk… I think this beats frunk/trunk/brunk.
A bus or plane, where cargo is beneath the passengers and accessed from the side is clearly, then, the holster.
Canteen goes on the trunk, gun in the holster, and bandolier on the chest. Western.

Makes sense, and doesn’t sound dumb either. 👍

Unfortunately, my usual resource for this kind of thing (google ngrams) is being foiled by the word ‘frunk’ being used in a lot of other weird contexts.
