Sounds like you’re doing too much peeling and not enough tapping

There’s a sweet spot like a ketchup bottle. It’s like 1/3 of the way down, you only have to peel it a little bit and tap the right spot onto the corner of the counter

  You might need someone experienced to show you then… When I was a kid my mom handed me a properly peeled one and pointed out exactly the right spot
  
  There’s always YouTube university. Not as good as direct learning, but at least you’ll be able to see exactly how it should look
