Comment on MMO players (past and present): what is your attitude towards "forced" group content?

I played SWTOR during the early early days and yeah. Hated being forced into group stuff. However, being early days, most people didn’t mind waiting for people to see the cutscenes. These days I think they’d be…very impatient. I really wish there was options to go "Hi I’m here for the story please let me cut through this easily and see the story”
Sort of like that one lady who suggested that since you can skip story you should also skip play and I agree with her. Didn’t work out well for her though.

I did ranked PvP in SWTOR exactly once. I remember liking the rewards received from participating, so I wanted to give it a try. The queue was long, but one day, a match actually happened.
It resulted in my team getting upset over my lack of skill, calling a truce with the other team so they can focus on me, gun me down, and then kick me out “for being AFK”. You can’t prove that you’re not AFK while dead, so they just spawncamped me until the kick worked.
Never again.

PvP sucks ass and I never ever want to go into PvP. So many games try to force people into PvP because so few people want to play PvP but those that do froth at the mouth for it so they need to force people into the meat grinder to make them happy. Fuck PvP.

Funny thing is, I even told the people I queued with that I only joined for the rewards, and can they please just let me sit on the side if they don’t want me to play while they do their thing, but they didn’t give a fuck. Apparently, according to them, joining just for the rewards was Bioware killing the game.
My experience made it very clear why the queue was so dead. Who would want to play with assholes like that? Unless that someone is an asshole themselves, that is.

They want to kill easy targets. IE, us who don’t want to pvp. To do that we must be forced to pvp. They hate being confronted with the fact most people do not want to pvp and only go into pvp when forced to do so (and they’ll argue it’s not forced forever) for rewards and completion and such. People who only want to pvp are toxic as shit. Not to say pve can’t also be toxic, but man. I just want to harvest things and cook things and see stories. Fuck.
