Me: “I just have this docker panel hosting all these game servers. It’s nice to not have to pay for a VPS.”
“Oh and also all of the pirated media is stored over here…”

To be fair, everyone in /c/Selfhosted sounds like this when they explain their homelab.

It’s half the fun of the damn thing. If I can coherently explain what I’m trying to do in the lab, I’m not enjoying myself.

“Look, it’s simple. I’ve got PiHole running my DNS service from a Podman container on a Raspbian VM hosted on ProxMox running bare-metal on a 10-year-old laptop with a broken screen. The laptop is my service host but it doesn’t have much storage, so I have a desktop built around an old AM3 motherboard with a stack of random old hard drives running TrueNAS as a file server, which everything else uses as a NAS. The laptop only has one ethernet port, so I’ve got a PCIe network card in the desktop so it can also run OPNSense, which provides routing and firewall for everything else on the network. That’s also connected to a Ubiquiti POE switch with two WAPs to provide WiFi.
See? simple. But I forgot to give the guest VLAN trunk access, and I forgot my login for OPNSense, and to fix it I’d have to reset it and then reconfigure all the network addressing, so that’s why your phone can’t get to the internet on my WiFi.”

Lol.
Self host bit/vault warden on a broken cell phone so you don’t forget you PW next time.
Or, just get a crayon and write it on broken laptop screen. Easy!

I forgot which thread this was and was about to help with your phone issue 😁
