boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 week agoIf that’s serious (and I’m hoping it’s not), do not go unless you’ve been talking to her for a long time now, or at least bring friends for backup on your first trip. Thailand’s got a bit of a reputation and I’m not talking about the ladyboys (hey - if you’re into it, they’ve got some of the most beautiful trans women around, I’m not gonna judge).
I know of two Estonian celebrities who have had some weird-ass experiences there. There was a comedic actor who went and… he’s not really talked about it much, but he was much more serious when he came back. Like something proper dark must’ve happened because the man seemed to have PTSD coming back. Would’ve been about a decade ago. Then there are two stand-up comedians whose podcast I used to listen to until one accidentally got semi-famous in the US so they stopped making it. One of them and I forgot which one, but I’m suspecting Ari, talked about how he literally got drugged by some women in a club and his friends barely saved his ass from being dragged away. This is something that women unfortunately have to fear worldwide, but it being Thailand, he suspected they were either going to rob his ass or remove some organs, it’s not like he was going to say no to sex anyway so it wouldn’t have been for rape purposes likely. Dude’s tall and well built, used to do MMA. Not the kind of person you’d expect to get kidnapped and murdered, but hey, it was pretty likely gonna happen, even strong people are very easy to incapacitate when their guard’s down.
