Comment on Did they rename "hipster" to "millennial optimist"?

No.
Hipster to me was just the trust fund kids who wanted to cosplay as working class. They never went away, just the popularity of the term.
And where I live there are still lots and lots of hipster types, though the working-class aesthetic isn’t ‘peak’ anymore, it’s considered more niche and the younger trust fundies are much more about conspicuously and overtly displaying their wealth.
That said, I know plenty of people who are like 35-50, who dress like they make 40K a year, and they make 500K a year, and they identify as ‘poor working class’.

So you’ve defined millennial hipster, but what would you say makes it different from millennial optimism?

I have no idea what that term is, I have never heard of it until this post. Sounds like some counter-doomer trend on social media where folks are being ’optimistic’ to contrast them from the endless glowering about how the world is awful.

I have seen “millennial optimism” in part presented as a fashion trend or aesthetic.
