Probably less. The ‘ham’ in hamburger doesn’t refer to the type of meat. But rather, the ‘hamburg’ in hamburger refers to the origin of the creation. Hamburg in Germany. So putting actual ham in a hamburger would a) make it not really a hamburger, and b) be pretty confusing to people.

Correct except hamburgers originated in America, only taking their name from the Hamburg steak, whose connection to the city of Hamburg is dubious at best.

Close. The creation was the Hamburg Steak, it was not originally a sandwich. A hamburger is a hamburg sandwich.
