I mean, germany does subsidize dairy products and the store-brand oat milk is still cheaper. Is it more heavily subsidized where you live?

anise@awful.systems 2 days agoIn a just world it is, but it kinda depends. A lot of countries subsidise dairy products into the ground for example, which can make it cheaper to be vegan except for dairy. This is of course still better than not vegan at all

Even with subsidies, it’s still cheaper if you compare to whole-plant based diets and real world spending data. It’s only the pre-made plant-based meats and similar that are more expensive because they don’t yet have the same economies of scale
