  In a just world it is, but it kinda depends. A lot of countries subsidise dairy products into the ground for example, which can make it cheaper to be vegan except for dairy. This is of course still better than not vegan at all

    Even with subsidies, it’s still cheaper if you compare to whole-plant based diets and real world spending data. It’s only the pre-made plant-based meats and similar that are more expensive because they don’t yet have the same economies of scale

    It found that in high-income countries:

    • Vegan diets were the most affordable and reduced food costs by up to one third.

    • Vegetarian diets were a close second.

    • Flexitarian diets with low amounts of meat and dairy reduced costs by 14%.

    • By contrast, pescatarian diets increased costs by up to 2%.

    I mean, germany does subsidize dairy products and the store-brand oat milk is still cheaper. Is it more heavily subsidized where you live?

    Seems like you are from Italy based on your instance? Studies have found overall costs lower in Italy for plant-based diets

      Yeah in Italy overall the price of meat is higher than plants but where i live, if i compare the quantity of meat and plants needed for a full meal, they are almost at the same prices especially where i live since we have plenty of meat to export anyway, the point was not about me but about others, i could prolly be vegetarian with little problems (not vegan, i could not) but I am not very healty so i’d rather not gamble with what i eat too
