When I was looking into this before, I heard good things about the WINIX 5300-2, and it has worked well for me. Not particularly cheap though.

Ah, i meant MERV isn’t commonly used in the EU (i think). We use more Heppa filters.

IKEA has a good one (big circle), and their filters are cheap too (compared to other air purifiers filters), since I got mine have I not seen cat hair fly around. I have a very hairy cat so I need to vacuum everyday, before could I even taste hair randomly…

I recommend a box fan and whatever square filter from the hardware store fits on the back with some duct tape. Fuck ever buying an air filter again I swear to god.
I had a nice air filter, was able to buy replacements one whole time before they stopped making the ones that fit in favour of slightly different shaped ones for the new model of fan. Don’t remember what brand at this point.
Had airline points that were expiring and spent them on what would have been two $850 Dyson air purifiers. (1700 for two fans?!?). The replacement purifiers were $150 each so I just used a PC blower to dust them. Eventually both were bricked by the software and wouldn’t run despite the screen turning on because it displayed an exclamation point 🤷♂️. They wanted $250 per fan to fix them because they were both a month out of warranty, which feels a little too on the nose. Never touching a Dyson product again.
Replaced them with Kmart air filters, three of them were cheaper than the repair cost of one of the Dyson fucks. Was able to replace the filters once and they’ve never been in stock in store or online again for over a year now.

I’ve been buying cheap replacement filters for a Winix 5300 and 5500 I purchased in 2015. You just backed the wrong horse. I literally just replaced them a couple weeks ago so the filters are still available 11 years later
