Whenever I can’t figure out why the USA is doing violence somewhere far away from home, the answer is usually manifest destiny. It didn’t end on the continent.

If you believe that that it is god’s will that you assert your will, it’s easy to blame the enemy for not just handing over what you want from them.

(Imperialism isn’t unique to the USA, but I think their history allows the government to face less opposition then they might face in other countries. Even if it’s just getting mad it’s not a polite person dropping the bombs.
