you can accept the free trial
In my experience, accepting a “free trial” usually requires accepting a long list of some company’s terms and conditions.
You might find that acceptable, but many of us do not.
Yes, it’s not new and you don’t have to pay to get rid of them. If you can’t handle waiting for the offer to expire then you can accept the free trial and immediately cancel it. Unlike most companies apple ends a free trial immediately if you cancel it.
They’re also not pop up ads. They’re inline in the settings ui. I’ve been told I’m overly sensitive to ads and these only annoy me slightly.

You’re only slightly annoyed by an ad that requires you to subscribe to a service with a free trial, then cancel the trial, to remove?
And I thought any ad on a $2000 product was too much, even it it was as simple as closing with an X

It’s pretty whiny to downvote someone who’s clarifying a misleading article.
Yeah, it’s only slightly annoying because I rarely look at settings and when I do it takes a microsecond to scroll that tiny extra bit past the single line item.
There are a million other things in the world to get bent out of shape about. This is an utterly ridiculous hill to die on.
