  My pet conspiracy theory is they’re trying to take compute power away from the proletariat so it can’t be used against them in the coming AI wars.

    I also believe they want to take our compute power BUT I think they just want to turn it subscription based (e.g. cloud gaming)

      They kinda missed the boat on that one. We passed the point of diminishing returns in graphics hardware years ago and now the only reason to get a high-end card is conspicuous consumption.
