Everyone knows him as Cervantes, even though his full name is Miguel de Cervantes. I live in Castilla-La Mancha and everywhere is Quijote… I even know a lady called Dulcinea… not a common name btw.

Well there’s probably not a lot of other well-know people with the last name “(de) Cervantes”. Same in Germany, no one ever uses “Johann Wolfgang von Goethe”, it’s always just “Goethe”.
