qarbone@lemmy.world 2 days agoI can’t even grapple with the idea that the thing that will stop cops from maiming and murdering minorities is being nice to them more of the time. People are generally already deferential to them because they have guns and uniforms.
Cops have turned into this after the 80s and 90s, the very height of cop propaganda. Where being a cop or a detective was one of the coolest things to be. It is incumbent on them, for their terrible behavior, to regain positive public opinion.
I never said to spit in their faces, but they don’t deserve applause for this level of job performance. People don’t applaud doctors and nurses every time they listen to some inane, self-inflicted idiocy from a patient without going postal

No, I’d prefer cops keep killing minorities.
That’s the position I’m espousing when I reject the idea that saying “thank you” instead of “ACAB” is a meaningful change toward a fix for systemic, gross police misconduct.
I find your apparent ideology around this patently laughable, if not dangerously naive. But you seem intent on holding on to it, so we’ll just end it here.
