Trump’s team pilfered this from the November 1st, 1948 edition of LIFE Magazine. Arthur Schlesinger, a Harvard University historian at the time, conducted a poll of 55 scholars and authorities to rank U.S. presidents. It’s considered the first poll of its kind. The poll leaves off Harrison and Garfield because they died too soon into their terms to be fairly evaluated. They also left off Truman because he was the president at the time.
