The nasal strips have been a slight improvement, but I’d still much rather have the surgery. Finding proper pillows seems impossible though! One is never enough, and two is awkward and uncomfortable. Right now I’m using some pillows we originally got for the couch and those have been fine.

rounding_error@lemmy.today 1 day agoI had a badly deviated septum too. I highly recommend the septoplasy surgery. The strips just DO NOT work 😭. My nose hurt like hell and bled for a week (during covid too), but it’s worth it. I would also look into getting proper pillow support, if yours is not tall enough. I add some towels underneath my head to correct my neck’s shape.

Yep! It’s one of the surgeries that seem to just work. I had mine done at 14 and it’s been fantastic. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone ever say it wasn’t worth it. I love when medicine just works
I’ve had over a dozen sinus surgeries cause I have cystic fibrosis and I’m pediatric size so all the passages needed to be widened but the deviated septum was a HUGE improvement the only other one that came close was when they opened the back passage connecting my nose to my mouth
